The Chairman

I am delighted with this opportunity to briefly share with you UHS Institute of Technology. If you are reading this, then you should count yourself among the most fortunate and blessed people in Ghana, Africa and the world at large. This training centre, as I will prefer to call it because of its practical skills training focus, was a dream by the Managing Director of Unique Hub Systems, a company into the sale of IT equipment and consumables and accessories.

At one of the director’s meetings she said “Chairman, I think we have to get a school to train the youth. I see so many of them on our streets and with different educational levels struggling for their daily bread. We have to do something to help these people. We have to find a way to get them off the street with employable skills.” This marked the beginning of UHS Institute of Technology.

The thoughts of Unique Hub Systems are not so different from that of the Government of Ghana. We have realized that we are producing a lot of people in humanities and some areas which do not have direct relevance to the current skill set required for our development as a nation. This has therefore created a disconnect between our schools and the products they are churning out year after year and the needs of Industry. What moves a nation is Science and Technology, not to say that the others are not useful… they are. But Science, Technology and Engineering are the practical skills required to solve the growing challenges of our nation at this time.

Thank God that UHS Institute of Technology is here to support existing efforts in bridging this yawning gap. We are offering a comprehensive IT training with focus on practical training, leadership and entrepreneurship. We are mindful that we do not produce dependent graduates who will only wait and look for somebody to hire them but produce entrepreneurs with good leadership skills capable of creating business and jobs for many. This is our dream and focus.

There is no age limit for enrolment. According to Henry Ford ‘Anyone who stops learning is old, whether at Twenty or Eighty. Anyone who keeps learning stays young. The greatest thing in life is to keep your mind young’. I therefore encourage all of you, to register with us and acquire skills that you can use as full time and as part-time income earning activities. Learn programming, how to build websites, graphic design, robotics, hardware, mobile app development, repairs and much more. I thank God for your life even as you prepare to join the UHS Institute of Technology family where we are redefining practical education with excellence.
Thank you.

Mr Abraham Garshong
